The mother of the bride/groom goes to her parents' and maternal grandparents' home to invite them to the wedding.
Before going she applies mehendi.
An auspicious day is chosen for bhaat.
Preparations:
- A thali is half filled with rice and other half with moong, jaggery (gur) is kept on top of it and the thali is packed in cellophane.
- In a box 5 supari (betel nuts), 5 turmeric sticks, moong, rice, roli, dry coriander are kept in a plastic bag. The box is tied with a kasumal
- (red) cloth.
- In a thali 5 types of dry fruits are kept (saltless).
- In a thali coconuts and gut (dried coconut) are decorated and kept coconut for the brother's tilak and gut for the bhabi's tilak.
- 1 1/4 metre of zari cloth - 1 1/4 metre of red kasumal cloth is kept on a thali (this is called kaap).
- One coconut covered with naal is kept for the brother.
- In a half cut gut-7 turmeric sticks, 7 supari, moong, rice and Rs. 101/- are kept and tied with kasumal cloth for bhabi.
- Laddoos.
- Money envelopes for nevgan, misrani and household staff.
